Chapter 12: Choose the Right

Making proper choices is vital in our journey through life.

  • There is a CHOICE you have to make, in everything you do. And you must always keep in mind, the CHOICE you make makes you.

God demonstrates his love to us by providing an afterlife.

Questions and answers about life after death.

  • Are the gates of Heaven open to all?

    • The scriptures record, “Yea, thus we see that the gate of heaven is open unto all.”

  • Does God try and keep people out of Heaven?

    • He denieth none that come to him, black and white, bond and free, male and female; and he remembereth the heathen; and all are alike unto God, both Jew and Gentile.

  • Are the gates of Heaven open to a sinner?

    • Quote from Howard W. Hunter: We should never let Satan fool us into thinking that all is lost. Let us take pride in the good and right things we have done; reject and cast out of our lives those things that are wrong; look to the Lord for forgiveness, strength, and comfort; and then move onward.

  • I am getting up there in years. Is it too late for me?

    • Matthew 20: 6-14; Parable of the laborers in the vineyard teaches it is never too late.

  • Does God really love us?

    • “For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.”

    • “God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”

  • How do we show our Gratitude and Love?

    • “If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.”

  • Where do I look for peace?

    • “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you …”

    • Quotation from Gerrit W. Gong: “To be worthy does not mean to be perfect. Heavenly Father’s plan of happiness invites us to be humbly at peace on our life’s journey to someday become perfected in Christ, not constantly worried, frustrated, or unhappy in our imperfections today. Remember, He knows all the things we don’t want anyone else to know about us―and loves us still.”

Quotation from Lorenzo Snow: “Do not expect to become perfect at once. If you do, you will be disappointed. Be better today than you were yesterday, and be better tomorrow than you are today. The temptations that perhaps partially overcome us today, let them not overcome us so far tomorrow. Thus continue to be a little better day by day; and do not let your life wear away without accomplishing good to others as well as to ourselves.”

Quotation from Spencer W. Kimball: “Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Almighty, the Creator, the master of the only true way of life … the gospel of Jesus Christ. The intellectual may rationalize him out of existence and the unbeliever may scoff, but Christ still lives and guides the destinies of his people. That is an absolute truth.”

Scripture: “And now, after the many testimonies which have been given of him, this is the testimony, last of all, which we give of him: That he lives! For we saw him, even on the right hand of God; and we heard the voice bearing record that he is the Only Begotten of the Father―That by him, and through him, and of him, the worlds are and were created, and the inhabitants thereof are begotten sons and daughters of God.”
